Zia Stella's Story
Hello! Thank you for taking a look at Zia Stella.
My name is Becky. I am a wife and mother of 3. When my children were born, I spent over 10 years as a stay-at-home mom. I am very thankful for that opportunity. Now that they are older and time allows, I am excited to start a new chapter…
For years, my mother has had a beautiful kantha stitched blanket on the back of her couch. That was my first introduction to this amazing fabric. The COLORS, the PATTERNS, the STITCHING!!! I was in love with it. I learned the story behind the fabric and the culture of the people who make it. As I researched, I found other fabrics and materials that were just as beautiful. These artisans were creating such amazing products, inspiring me to start designing some of my own pieces.
My vision for this shop is to offer beautiful, comfortable designs that combine handmade charm with bohemian flair, created by amazing artisans. Many of our products are made from a range of upcycled vintage saris and hand-woven materials, to fabric that is hand stamped with wooden blocks. These are ethically produced items that are as unique as you are.
We partner with companies that work with artisans in vulnerable communities around the world. Through them we are helping to empower women through fair trade. Communities are strengthened, girls are able to attend school and families are breaking the cycle of poverty.
We also work with family-owned shops that are located in small villages in India. They provide their employees with fair wages and dignified work. These are people full of tradition, culture and values. They take pride in their handiwork and it shows in the unique items they create. Your purchase helps preserve these traditional handicrafts and strengthens their communities. Purchasing from these small shops helps to build generational wealth in these areas.
As we grow, Zia Stella will continue to look for artisans that are empowering women through fair business practices throughout the world. Bringing you products that not only look good but make you feel good knowing they are ethically made. We want to empower women and help keep their cultures, values and traditions alive, which in turn strengthens their communities and the people who live in them.
XO,
Becky
